If you're watching the new season of The Walking Dead, then you witnessed the actions of Shane Walsh played by Jon Bernthal). AKA, Mr. Jackass as I like to call him. The funny thing about Shane is, I was actually starting to feel a little sorry for him. I mean, his best friend was supposedly dead (don't get me started on that episode - that was Jackass moment #1), he "saves" his BFF's family and later falls in lust / love with his BFF's wife.
When his BFF, Rick, returns from the un-dead, he is left to become the 3rd wheel and loses the possible zombie-apocalypse family future that was ahead of him. THEN, he goes and tries to force himself on his BFF's wife at the end of last season's episode. That was Jackass moment #2.
Then on last week's episode, he had a chance to truly redeem himself. He embarked on a trip with fellow survivor Otis (played by Pruitt Taylor Vince) to retrieve life saving medical equipment and supplies for Rick's son who was accidentally shot. It seems bleak for Shane and Otis as they are cornered by swarms of zombies. Is it the end for our heroes? No! Otis makes a beeline for one exit while Shane heads for another. Shane barely makes it and injures his foot. As he is stumbling through the never-ending (it seems) parking lot, all hope seems lost but guess who comes to his aid? Why his fellow survivor, Otis! Hooray!
While I do appreciate the fact that this episode was chock full of zombies, I am disgusted with Shane's actions. Really? You don't think you could have hobbled just a little bit more to the truck and then drove away? If this is what we can expect from Shane then I hope he leaves the group and drives far, far away. And I hope that Otis' family finds out what happens and hunts him down ...
Here's to next week!
